First Aid and CPR Quick Overview:

Standard Course:

First Aid and CPR can either be done by doing both on the same day or by just doing CPR, CPR is included in the assessment of the First Aid Course but First Aid is not included in the smaller CPR course.

First Aid includes pre-course material (Approx 1 – 3 hours) plus 1 day of face to face training and assessment. CPR includes 2 – 4 hours of face to face.

Overview of First Aid and CPR:

‘HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid’ describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

‘HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation’ describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Work is implemented with low-risk work procedures and to comply with Safe Work Method Statement documentation.

The First aid course consists of the following topics:

  • Respond to an emergency situation.
  • Apply appropriate first aid procedures.
  • Communicate details of the incident.
  • Review the incident.

The CPR course consists of the following topics:

  • Respond to an emergency situation.
  • Perform CPR procedures.
  • Communicate details of the incident.
  • Review the incident.

Pre-Requisites of First Aid and CPR:

There are no entry requirements for these courses.

Units:

  1. HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  2. HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued a ‘Statement of Attainment’ certifying competence of the unit.

Course Delivery:

First Aid and CPR is done in a classroom (face to face) and practical training is conducted at the designated LT Training specialised facility.

Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at clients’ premises, providing suitable facilities. Depending on location there may be a call-out fee.

All training aids and safety equipment are provided for use as required. Maximum student numbers exist depending on the facility.

FAQ about First Aid and CPR:

Q. How long before I need to renew First Aid?

A. Every three (3) years from the date on your certificate.

 

Q. How long before I need to renew CPR?

A. Every one (1) year from the date on your certificate.

RPL:

LT Training does not offer RPL at this point in time due to the high-risk work activity and changing legislation.
