Career Start is the Queensland Government’s new program that provides subsidised training to help you start your career, gain skills for a new job, or move into a more skilled role.
The General Training Pathway supports eligible Queenslanders to complete entry-level qualifications, such as Certificate III courses, without the need for an apprenticeship or traineeship contract.
This funding is available for AHC31024 – Certificate III in Parks and Gardens
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be 15 years or older, and not at school (school students may access apprenticeships/traineeships instead).
- Permanently reside in Queensland.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or hold an eligible visa.
- Not have completed a Certificate III or higher qualification in the last 10 years (qualifications completed at school and foundation skills courses do not count).
- Not be enrolled in another qualification (foundation skills excluded).
Additional entry requirements or exemptions may apply depending on your chosen qualification.
Note: Only one General Pathway qualification can be completed.
What training is available for Career Start – General Training Pathway?
The program subsidises a wide range of Certificate III qualifications and introductory skill sets. These qualifications are aligned with Queensland’s priority skills needs.

What will it cost?
Given the benefits that accrue to individuals from training, students will be required to contribute to the costs of their training through a co-contribution fee. The fee may be paid on behalf of the student by the employer or a third party unrelated to LT Training, but cannot be paid or waived by LT Training. For example, in Southeast QLD, within a 200 km radius of LT Training head office, the cost will be $20.00 per unit for non-concessional and $10 per unit for concessional students upon enrolment. For more information on co-contribution rates per location, Fees and Charges Policy.
This fee:
- Is clearly published on our website and provided upfront.
- Can be paid by your employer, family member, or another party – but not by us as your training provider.
Concessions and lower fees may be available for eligible students, such as those holding a Health Care Card or identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
